Hello All. For those of you at Keene State, have a fabulous first day of class. Here is some stuff that is already on the calendar.

RCIA: Tuesday: August 30, 7pm-9pm at St. Margaret Mary

Do you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic, or someone who has been baptized but needs the other Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Eucharist). Invite them to RCIA. If anyone is interested in participating, I am part of the RCIA team and will leave the Newman Center at 6:30pm and am happy to give students a ride to St. Margaret Mary in West Keene. Drop me an email if you are planning on coming so I know to wait for you. Meetings will continue every Tuesday.

BRUNCH at the Newman Center: Sunday: September 4, after the 11:15 Mass (so around 12:30ish)

Join other students at the Newman Center for a simple brunch after the 11:15 Mass on Sunday. The plan is to make this weekly event. Come and help cook the food, get to know other students, talk about faith, and life, and other stuff. The plan is to also do a bit of brainstorming and planning at this brunch. This is YOUR Newman Center – let us know what you would like to do this year!

A Quick Journey through the Bible – Bible Study: Wednesday, Sept 7, 7pm at the Newman Center (unless we can get a space on campus…TBA)

This year we are beginning with a DVD based bible study called a Quick Journey Through the Bible. If you have ever tried to read through the bible and gotten stuck in Leviticus or Numbers, this bible study is for you. It gives a great overview of Salvation History and teaches you the narrative thread that holds everything together. The format is 8 half hour DVD presentations followed by our discussion, questions etc. Let me know if you are interested in joining us for bible study. We can also discuss the schedule when we meet. We can also run this more than once a week if that helps people to attend.

Interfaith Service of Silence and Song: Remembering September 11th : Sunday, Sept. 11, 7PM at the United Church of Christ, Head of the Square

The Keene Interfaith Clergy group is putting together a service for the 10^th anniversary of Sept 11. We will meet at the Newman Center at 6:30pm and walk over for those who would like to go as a group, or you can just meet us there.

Walk to Benefit Pregnancy Resource Center of the Monadnock Region: Saturday, September 17, 9am – Washington Street.

Join us for a walk to benefit the Pregnancy Resource Center. They help young women with unplanned pregnancies and also support couples with young children with parenting classes, material support etc. I am in the process of getting sponsor forms and will let you know when they are available.

Evening Mass and Potluck to welcome students to the parish: Tentative Sunday September 18, Mass at 5pm followed by potluck.

We are rescheduling the welcome to the parish Mass and Potluck that was canceled because of the threat of Irene. Come and meet parishioners and find out ways that you can get involved in our parish.
