Gentle Journey

Feeling kind of spiritually tired now that we’re a couple weeks into Lent?  Check out this blog post on the gentle journey of Lent.  The author (a dear friend of mine) focuses a lot on parenthood, but it’s still applicable even if you don’t have kids!

Proof That You Can Be a Total Newbie and STILL Enjoy Adoration

Did you know that the Newman Center holds a weekly Holy Hour?

Did you further know that it starts in about an hour?

And even better, did you know that in no way do you have to be experienced, super holy, or otherwise on your way to sainthood to participate in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament?  Here’s proof, in the form of a fantastic article that puts to words everything I’ve ever thought about Adoration, and everything I’ve ever come to love about it.  Here’s an excerpt from the article, during the author’s first experience at Adoration:

And something happened. Unlooked for, unbidden. A sense of Presence. Of Mystery. Of almost a slight twitch of electricity in the air. It filled my heart, and the words came inside, “This is not about you, this is about Me.” So much of the time when I worship Jesus (and God and the Holy Spirit), it is about my asking for things from God — to fix my kids, to fix me, to enable me to write brilliantly, and, of course, to help the wounded, the poor and the downtrodden. I saw that this was a time to give back to God, to give thanks, to just sit and be with him.

The Newman Center Holy Hour takes place every Friday morning at 10:00 am.  We meet in the Newman Center office and head up to the Adoration Chapel together.  All are welcome!
